Steve & Debbie enjoying South Lake Tahoe in 2016. June 15, 2020 they celebrated 35 years of marriage by staying home due to COVID-19. 2018 was a tough year. On Feb. 24, Debbie's mother passed away quickly from cancer at the age of 75. On March 12, Debbie was diagnosed with stage 3b, anal, rectal, vaginal cancer at 57 years old. The doctors did not allow her to work during treatments. Radiation & chemotherapy treatments followed at St. Joseph's Cancer Center. On Oct. 1, Debbie was cleared to return to work. As of Jan. 3, 2019 she has been called "disease free" and is considered to have experienced a "complete clinical response" to treatment by all of her oncologists. Thank you for your prayers and support through this journey. In difficult times, we need to remind ourselves that: God's power at work in us can do far more than we dare ask or imagine. (Ephesians 3:20) Sept. 1, 2019, Debbie was off work until Jan. 15, 2020 due to having four surgeries at Stanford University to repair the damage the cancer and radiation caused. January 3, 2020 she received her second PET scan result of being "disease free." On July 10, 2020, Debbie had a spinal surgical procedure (No Cancer detected) and received great care at Stanford Hospital. Debbie loves her job and cares deeply for her students, so she is very
